The Barrington Group, Inc. sees in the relocation process four distinct phases. These are:

Pre-Relocation Services
Pre-relocation services are designed to assist the employer with candidate selection and budgeting relocation costs and to assist the employee with preparing for separation from the home country.

Candidate Assessment
International relocation can be costly, especially if the transferred employee is not a suitable fit. Therefore, pre-screening employees and spouses can save a company from a loss on investment. This service is used to evaluate the cultural adaptability of a candidate and spouse and to predict the assignment success probability.

Cost Estimate
We help you and your organization to budget the costs associated with an international relocation. A detailed assessment of relocation costs is prepared for international transfers. Additionally, assignment costs, including cost of living allowance, housing allowance, and housing contribution is calculated for international assignments using an outside consultants statistical data.

On-Site Evaluation
We arrange for prospective candidates to visit Panama evaluate the business and living conditions prior to committing to accepting a long-term assignment or transfer. The Barrington Group, Inc. assists with arranging an exploratory trip, which includes an area orientation, housing tour and visits to international schools in Panama.

Policy Counseling
The Barrington Group, Inc. conducts thorough interviews with the employee to assess individual and family needs related to the relocation. The consultant counsels the employee on their relocation benefits, authorized services and relocation process in detail.

Coordination of the Moving Process
Relocations to Panama will typically involve an air shipment, surface shipment and storage of some household goods and personal belongings. The Barrington Group, Inc. manages the transportation and storage of household goods, reviews the international move cost estimate, and audits the invoices. Services provided by the international carrier are tailored to individual corporate policies, and generally include packing, loading, insurance, transportation, storage, customs, duties, claims and delivery.

Temporary Lodging Services
The Barrington Group, Inc. identifies needs and coordinates temporary lodging facilities in Panama for relocating employees and their families. This service includes: booking the lodging; monitoring the customer's satisfaction with the accommodations, amenities and service throughout the stay; assuring proper notice is given for check-out; and coordinating payment of invoices.

Work Permit Coordination
The Barrington Group, Inc. works with a local law firm to obtain the required work permits, residence permits and visas for the employee and accompanying family.

Destination Services
The goal of The Barrington Group, Inc.’s destination services is to help the transferee or assignee and family familiarize themselves with the new area and get settled in long-term housing in the new community, with the least amount of anxiety and down time. To help accomplish this goal, the employer can select from a variety of services.

Housing/Rental Assistance
Prior to the employee's visit to the host location, The Barrington Group, Inc. conducts a detailed needs assessment to determine housing needs, schooling needs, spousal interests and any special concerns regarding the host location. The Barrington Group, Inc. then coordinates a customized area orientation, home search, school search and settling-in program.

Cultural Orientation
A Cultural Orientation program is customized for each individual or group and includes cultural awareness and sensitivity training, information about the adjustment process, and unique country-specific information on social and business practices. Depending on the needs of the individuals and the timing of the move, the overview can be provided in the home country, in Panama or both.

Language Training
The Barrington Group, Inc. arranges for language training for the employee and family in advance of the move, following the move, or both. Depending on the needs of the individuals and the timing of the move, the language training can be provided in the home country, in Panama or both.

Spouse/Partner Counseling
While most countries make spouse/partner employment difficult, The Barrington Group, Inc. can provide the spouse with information about volunteer work, continuing education opportunities, and social organizations in the host country.

Global Support Services
The Barrington Group, Inc., in partnership with selected suppliers, can provide your employees with access to credit cards, access to competitive automobile insurance, access to competitive renters and homeowners insurance, 24 hour native language assistance, emergency translation service, and medical and legal referrals.

On-Going Assignment Support
These services offer continuous support to the relocating employee or family.

On-Going Expense Management
The Barrington Group, Inc. audits, approves and pays on-going expenses during an international assignment, such as home leave expense reports, household goods storage bills, international school payments, and international wire fees.

Assignee Maintenance
The Barrington Group, Inc. manages ongoing assignment administration, including updating goods & services differential, providing on-going support to assignees, coordinating resolution of assignment issues, and maintaining assignee database with location and duration of each assignment.

Repatriation Services
Repatriation services facilitate the efficient departure from the host location and reintegration into the home location. Successfully managing the repatriation process maximizes the client's and employee's return on the assignment investment. The Barrington Group, Inc. contributes to the successful repatriation effort by providing and/or coordinating some or all of the following services.

Pre-Move Trip
The Barrington Group, Inc. arranges a "pre-move" trip to the home country. Depending on the needs of the individual and the company's policy, this may include an area orientation, and housing tour, to assist with reacquainting employee with current housing prices and changes which occurred during the assignment.

Policy Counseling
The Barrington Group, Inc. has a detailed discussion with the employee to assess individual and family needs relating to repatriation. The consultant counsels the employee on their repatriation package, authorized services and repatriation process in detail. The consultant identifies any areas which may require exception approval and discusses with the client early in the process before it becomes an issue.

Lease Terminations
The Barrington Group, Inc. coordinates with a local service partner to assist with terminating housing lease, furniture rental, and car leases, including assistance with deposit recovery.

Household Goods Move Management
The Barrington Group, Inc. manages the return air and surface transportation of household goods and delivery of goods from storage. The Barrington Group, Inc. reviews the international move cost estimate and audits the invoices. Services provided by the international carrier are tailored to individual corporate policies, and generally include packing, loading, insurance, transportation, storage, customs, duties, claims and delivery.

The Barrington Group, Inc. identifies needs and coordinates temporary lodging as authorized by policy. This service includes: booking the lodging; monitoring the customer's satisfaction with the accommodations, amenities and service throughout the stay; assuring proper notice is given for check-out; and, coordinating payment of invoices.

The Barrington Group, Inc. conducts a detailed needs assessment with the employee to determine housing needs, schooling needs, spousal interests and any special concerns regarding repatriation. The Barrington Group, Inc. then coordinates a customized program based on the family's needs and areas of interest. Destination Services may include some or all of the following activities as determined by client policy and employee/family needs: local area orientation, home finding, school search, and settling-in services.

Consulting Services
Consulting Services tend to be one-time projects related to employee relocation that are provided for the benefit of the corporate client.

Policy Review
The Barrington Group, Inc. reviews your international assignment policies and compares each type to the policies of similar companies. A detailed analysis of each policy is provided including recommendations on changes to the policy based on current trends and cost-saving ideas.

Group Move Assistance
Every group move is different and requires special attention and extensive planning. The Barrington Group, Inc. evaluates the specifics and determines the mix of services that will best meet the needs of the proposed group move and the employees involved.
